An angler has caught a really strange fish with a full set of human-like teeth. The fish has been making rounds online after it was hooked in Malaysia.
The fish quickly went viral on social media when it’s photo was posted. The photo of the odd fish was shared thousands of times on Twitter, with people speculating over its identity and questioning whether it was even real. The fish is indeed an actual species of toothy fish.
The Rakyat Post identifies it as a triggerfish - which is common in the waters around Malaysia.
The triggerfish have about 40 species. They are most brightly coloured, and make their homes in tropical and subtropical waters.
The males are known to be territorial and aggressive, charging at intruders and even using their impressive teeth to battle with crabs and sea urchins, according to National Geographic.
Twitter users have done their best to give the toothy fish a makeover.
