Be default, you can’t log out of an account on Messenger because Facebook intentionally did not include the “sign out” button the Facebook messenger app.

Nevertheless, there is a way you can use to sign out of an account on Messenger.

How?

“By Clearing Messenger app data in Settings”

Before you get started, close the app if you have it open, and get rid of it from your recent apps list, otherwise this trick won’t work.

Now, to log out of Facebook Messenger, you need to go into the Settings of your Android device.

In Settings, scroll down to “Apps” or “Apps & notifications”, tap “see all apps” and scroll down until you see Messenger

Once you see Messenger, tap on it, scroll down and tap “Storage”

After opening Storage tap “Clear data”. There also should be a Clear Cache option, which we suggest you should tap too

Now when you go back to tap on Messenger in your app drawer, you should see that it won’t log you in automatically.

I hope this works.

If you know any other trick that can be used to log out of Messenger, kindly share via comments.
