A Nigerian Restaurant Owner In New York Dies Of Coronavirus

A Nigerian man, Jonathan Adewunmi who was based in New York, United States, died of complications that came from Coronavirus.

Mr Adewunmi is the owner of a popular Nigerian restaurant named Amarachee in Brooklyn area of New York.

Paul Okoye, a show promoter, was close to Adewunmi during his lifetime and took to social media to mourn his demise saying: “My man why? Jonathan Rip. Coronavirus why? So many things we planned this summer. Gone so soon brother.”

A list of Nigerians, who died of Coronavirus abroad since the outbreak started weeks ago was released by the Nigerian Government.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, revealed this information through a video containing the names, pictures and countries of residence of the departed Nigerians.

The video was posted on her verified Twitter handle and showed that 13 Nigerians abroad have so far died of the virus. Eight of those people died in the United Kingdom and the remaining five died in the United States.

Dr Alfa Sa’adu, Carol Jamabo, Dr Kole Abayomi, Bode Ajanlekoko, Adeola Onasanya, Ugochukwu Erondu, Chidinma Olajide and Mmaete Greg were listed as those who died in the UK from the coronavirus.
