Rapper Ty of British and Nigerian roots, dies from coronavirus at the age of 47 after being hospitalised and placed in a medically induced coma.
Ty’s team confirmed he was dead on Thursday after he was hospitalised and placed in a medically-induced coma due to complications resulting from the virus.
Ty - real name born Ben Chijioke - was previously nominated for the Mercury Prize for his acclaimed album Upwards.
A fundraising page also confirmed that Ty was admitted to hospital with medical complications related to the coronavirus. He was then placed into a medically-induced coma, and later put on a ventilator, but was moved out of intensive care after his condition improved.
